AN IMPERIAL GERMAN PATTERN 1867/81 CAVALRY SABRE, UNSIGNED,
late 19th century, with narrow slightly curved 30 1/2in. plated blade with blind broad fuller, the first half of both sides etched with floral motifs and trophies surrounding blued panels, the right with 'KURHESS. TRAIN BATAILLON No,11' in gothic script, the letters polished bright, the reverse with a depiction of German Cavalry Troopers assaulting a town, plated pierced ribbon half-basket hilt with fixed inner guard and leather finger-loop, ribbed hard rubber grip and plain doves-head back-strap, complete with its black painted iron scabbard with fixed suspension ring
